Ravintsara, also known as Ho Leaf essential oil, should not be confused with Ravensara or even Ho Wood. All three oils are very different. Ravintsara Essential Oil is distilled from the leaves of the same plant that yields various camphor oils and crystals. Ravintsara Essential Oil smells fresh, earthy, eucalyptus-like with woody and subtle peppery notes. If the Ravintsara originates from Madgascar, the main components are 1,8-Cineole, Sabinene, a-Terpineol, a-Pinene, and B-pinene. Please note that Tisserand and Young report that oil sourced from China may contain Safrole and Methyleugenol.
Ho Wood Essential Oil, Cinnamomum camphora var linalool, is steam distilled from the bark and wood (and sometimes the leaves are simultaneously distilled) of the same tree that brings us Ravintsara Essential Oil. This difference should be noted between the two essential oils. Ho Wood is one of the most potent sources of naturally occurring linalol found in any steam distilled essential oil. Aromatically, Ho Wood Essential Oil is a beautifully fragrant wood oil that possesses some similarity to that of Rosewood Oil. Due to the endangerment of the rosewood tree, Ho Wood may serve as a suitable aromatic substitute. Ho Wood Essential Oil smells sweet, fresh and woody, with subtle floral notes.
In general terms, Palmarosa Essential Oil contains approximately 70-80% monoterpenes, 10-15% esters and around 5% aldehydes. Its color and consistency is yellow and thin, respectively. Palmarosa Essential Oil smells fresh, floral and sweet. Its major consituents are Geraniol, Geranyl Acetate, (E,Z)-Farnesol, Linalool, (E)-B-Ocimene, B-Caryophyllene, and Geranial.
Thyme ct linalool tends to be amongst the most gentle and safe for topical application. Its aroma smells fresh, herbaceous and slightly medicinal. Its great for use during the winter season. Its major constituents is linalool in this chemotype. However, we see also Thymol, p-Cymene, Carvacrol, Gamma-Terpinene, B-Caryophyllene, a-Pinene, and a-Terpinene.
Sweet Almond is a primarily monounsaturated vegetable oil with medium viscosity and mild, nutty aroma. It contains up to 80% Oleic Acid, a monunsaturated omega-9 fatty acid, and up to about 25% Linoleic Acid, a polyunsaturated omega-6 essential fatty acid. It may contain up to 5-10% saturated fatty acids, primarily in the form of Palmitic Acid.

SENSITIVITY & ALLERGIES: I always use high quality, natural ingredients but some herbs and oils can cause reactions to those allergic or sensitive. When trying new products, always do a skin patch test by applying to a small area of healthy, non-irritated skin (the underside of the wrist or underarm is a good place), to check for skin sensitivities. This is especially important if planning to apply to broken or damaged skin. Wait about 20 minutes. Look for redness, a rash near the area or elsewhere. Always monitor yourself or your child whenever using aromatherapy blends.
