Topical salves and balms are similar such that they can contain essential oils and herbal infusions. But there are also some differences. Salves tend to be oily and have a thin consistency whereas balms tend to be thicker. Salves are normally used for moisturizing the skin and addressing specific issues of the skin whereas balms tend to lock in moisture and act as a barrier against environmental particles and irritants.

  • SENSITIVITY & ALLERGENS

I always use high quality, natural ingredients but some herbs and oils can cause reactions to those allergic. When trying new products, always do a patch test by applying to a small area of healthy, non-irritated skin (the underside of the wrist is a good place), to check for skin sensitivities. This is especially important if planning to apply to broken or damaged skin.
